Children’s Day 2009

Children’s Day 2009

14 November 2009

Regular Camps at MIOT Hospitals for children, camps in districts, coordinating with Govt. Health Dept. & NGO’s to identify children with heart disease and spreading awareness and dispelling wrong notions.

One week free camp was held at MIOT Hospitals to aid children to visit the hospital free of cost of registration and all investigations. Different news papers carried the news and it was also announced on the children’s day celebrations held in November 2009. Many of the identified children are undergoing treatment already.

Children’s Day 2009 – It was a great occasion when parents and children from all over Tamil Nadu were invited and in spite of all inconveniences they came together. The day was planned for children and families arriving from different parts starting with a sumptuous breakfast followed by a magic show to keep the children active and happy.

We witnessed an impromptu children’s day program put up by the kids. One talked about the significance of children’s day, and two of them gave us a dance performance to the latest Tamil songs, gyrating on stage which considering they were heart patients was something which made even the doctors sit up in amazement. Just proved that a strong heart is the secret of good health.

Dr. Moorthy, Chief of Paediatric at the Children Hospital in Egmore was the Chief Guest of the day. He clarified the schemes of the government and also was in praise of the work done by MIOT and CHIME in helping so many children.

Parents and children came forward to talk about their emotional experiences with their child’s illness and their days in the hospital with doctors, treatment and CHIME.
