Pediatric Camp

Pediatric Camp

11 September 2014

CHIME organized a paediatric camp at Kovalam for the local residents ahead of the Covelong surfing & music festival. The children’s health camp included free consultation and necessary medications along with ECHO and ECG tests for children suspected to have heart disease. Seeming like a trickle when it started, the morning session witnessed around 141 patients and in the afternoon session there were around 119 patients – summing up to 260 for the camp. The doctors team also found the health status of the children at Kovalam to be nearly 100 per cent good. There was a lot of contentment and cheer in the faces of adults and children, the children looked happy. The camp that was restricted to children also entertained few age old people on their request for health check-up. The doctors graciously honored the request and went out of their way to help them by possible means. Other than the occasional cold and cough and a few respiratory ailments, and some vitamin deficiencies, a few children whose wounds were healing after scraps in school, falling down in games class etc there were no major problems which were usual like cases of mal nourishment, or polio, congenital anomalies etc. The children and parents were not only happy about the distribution of medicines but the children were thrilled about the caps they received as compliment from MIOT.
