Pediatric Camp

Pediatric Camp

11 September 2014

CHIME organised a paediatric camp at Kovalam for local residents ahead of the Covelong Surfing & Music Festival. The camp included free consultations, necessary medications, and ECHO and ECG tests for children suspected to have heart disease.

What began as a small turnout grew steadily. The morning session saw around 141 patients, and the afternoon session had around 119 patients, bringing the total to 260.

The medical team observed that the overall health status of the children at Kovalam was nearly 100 per cent good. There was visible contentment and cheer among both adults and children.

Although the camp was intended for children, a few elderly individuals requested check-ups, which the doctors graciously accommodated.

Apart from minor issues such as cold, cough, respiratory ailments, vitamin deficiencies, and minor wounds from everyday activities, there were no major concerns like malnutrition, polio, or congenital anomalies.

Parents appreciated the medicines provided, and the children were especially delighted with the complimentary caps from MIOT.
