Bhavana, a courageous young girl from Kanchipuram district, was born with profound hearing loss and was non-verbal, a condition that already posed significant challenges in her life. Despite the hardships she faced, she grew up with an unshakable spirit.
Her family, though loving and supportive, struggled financially. Mr. Baskar, Bhavana’s father, works as an agricultural laborer and earns Rs. 400 per day that barely provides enough to meet their basic needs.
In the past few years, she started showing symptoms that suggested a more serious health issue—persistent fatigue, difficulty in breathing, and severe chest pain. So, she was referred to MIOT Hospitals for further treatment. After a thorough examination, doctor’s diagnosed Bhavana with rheumatic heart disease, which has resulted in severe MS Grade II MR, Grade II AR, moderate TR, and mild pulmonary hypertension. These conditions pose serious risks to her health and require urgent surgical intervention.
The medical team had planned for mitral valve repair + tricuspid valve repair + aortic valve repair, which cost Rs. 3,60,000.
Bhavana’s family, with their limited financial resources, was unable to afford the cost of the life-saving surgery. They were stuck in a painful situation; her life depended on urgent medical intervention, but they had no means to pay for it.
Understanding the urgency of the situation, the well-wishers extended their support, which enabled us to raise enough funds for her to undergo the necessary surgery.
On 04.10.2024, she underwent surgery and was discharged from the hospital and continued her post-operative care with regular check-ups and medications
