We are writing to seek your kind support for Musharaf Jahaan, a 10-year-old girl from Avadi, Chennai, who is in urgent need of a life-saving cardiac intervention. Musharaf was born at Egmore Baby Hospital, where during a routine neonatal check-up her parents were informed that she had a small hole in the heart, which was expected to close on its own as she grew older. Reassured by this advice and limited by their financial circumstances, the family did not pursue further medical evaluation at that time.
Recently, during a cardiac screening camp conducted by MIOT International at the Tiruvallur Government Hospital, Musharaf was screened again and found to have a large PDA with severe PAH. After detailed evaluation, the treating cardiology team has advised her to undergo an elective PDA device closure at the earliest, as delaying treatment may lead to irreversible complications and significantly affect her quality of life.
Musharaf comes from a financially disadvantaged family. Her father, Mr. Hassin Sharif, works as a driver and earns approximately ₹15,000 per month, which is barely sufficient to meet the basic needs of the household. Her mother, Mrs. Noor Nisha, is a homemaker who takes care of Musharaf and her elder daughter. The family has no savings and is unable to bear the cost of advanced cardiac treatment.
The estimated cost of the PDA device closure procedure, including the procedure itself, ICU care, hospital stay, post-operative investigations, and medications, amounts to ₹1,40,000. In view of the child’s medical condition and the family’s financial limitations, CHIME humbly appeals to you for financial assistance to help Musharaf undergo this essential procedure and regain the chance to live a healthy and active childhood.
