Dananya, an 8-year-old girl, hails from the Tiruvallur district. She had been diagnosed with a large atrial septal defect (ASD), a congenital heart condition.
After a detailed diagnosis at MIOT Hospitals, it was recommended that she undergo an elective ASD closure surgery. The surgery was her best chance for a healthier life, as it would prevent the development of further complications related to the heart defect.
However, the cost of the surgery was estimated at Rs. 260,000/-, which included the surgery, ICU stay, etc. This was an overwhelming amount for the family to arrange, as her father, Mr. Suresh Kumar, works as a daily wage laborer earning just Rs. 800 per day. His income was not enough to cover the cost of the surgery, and he found himself helpless, watching his daughter suffer without the means to provide her with the treatment she desperately needed.
The outpouring of support from several generous donors was heartwarming, and the funds were raised on time.
On 21.11.2024, Dananya underwent surgery and was discharged from the hospital and continued her post-operative care with regular check-ups and medications.
