Urgent Help Needed for Udayakumar’s Heart Surgery
Udayakumar, a cheerful 7-year-old boy from a small village in Thiruvallur district, has been fighting a battle for his life since infancy.
He was born in a Primary Health Center in Thiruvallur. Like any newborn, his parents dreamed of a healthy and happy future for their child. But when Udayakumar was just nine months old, he suddenly fell seriously ill with severe vomiting and diarrhea. His worried parents rushed him to the Government Hospital for emergency treatment.
During further medical evaluation at another Government Hospital, doctors discovered something far more serious and the diagnosis left his family devastated and frightened.
Determined to save their son, his parents took him to MIOT Hospitals in Chennai, where specialists conducted detailed tests. Doctors identified that Udayakumar had Bradycardia, a condition in which the heart beats too slowly. This slow heart rate can reduce blood flow to the brain and other vital organs, putting a child’s life at risk.
When Udayakumar was just one year old, doctors performed a permanent epicardial dual-chamber pacemaker implantation to regulate his heartbeat. The surgery saved his life and gave him the chance to grow up like other children.
However, during a recent routine medical review at MIOT Hospitals, doctors discovered that his pacemaker now needs an urgent replacement through a transvenous procedure to ensure the device continues functioning properly.
Without this surgery, Udayakumar’s life could once again be in danger.
The cost of the procedure is ₹4,00,000, an amount far beyond what his family can afford.
Udayakumar’s father, Mr. Sathishkumar, works as a wood cutter, earning around ₹700 a day when work is available. His job is irregular, and many days he returns home without any income. Struggling to support his family’s basic needs, arranging such a large amount for medical treatment is simply impossible for him.
Today, this loving father is standing helplessly, hoping for kindness and support from compassionate people who can help save his child.
