Udayakumar, a cheerful 7-year-old boy from a small village in Thiruvallur district, has been bravely fighting for his life since infancy.
He was born in a Primary Health Center, and his parents hoped for a healthy future for their child. However, at just nine months old, he became seriously ill with severe vomiting and diarrhea. When he was taken to a Government Hospital, further tests revealed a serious heart condition.
Later, at MIOT Hospitals in Chennai, doctors diagnosed him with Bradycardia, a condition where the heart beats too slowly, affecting proper blood flow to the body.
When Udayakumar was one year old, he underwent a permanent epicardial dual-chamber pacemaker implantation, a life-saving procedure that helped regulate his heartbeat and allowed him to grow like other children.
During a recent follow-up, doctors found that his pacemaker needed urgent replacement. They advised a transvenous pacemaker replacement procedure to ensure his heart continues to function properly. The total cost of this procedure was ₹4,00,000, which his family could not afford.
Udayakumar’s father, Mr. Sathishkumar, works as a woodcutter with irregular daily wages, making it difficult to meet even basic needs.
With timely support of ₹55,000, Udayakumar successfully underwent the pacemaker replacement procedure on 25/03/2026. He recovered well and was discharged from the hospital on 02/04/2026.
He is now on regular medications and has been advised to return for a follow-up after one month. With proper care and treatment, Udayakumar can now look forward to a safer and healthier future.
