Baby Dhanusri K, a four-month-old infant from Chennai, was born in a Government Hospital. At just two months of age, she developed severe breathing difficulty along with persistent cold and cough. She was taken to various Government Hospitals, where she received treatment and medications as advised by the attending doctors. Despite continued medical care, her symptoms persisted.
Subsequently, Dhanusri was referred to a free cardiac screening camp conducted by MIOT Hospitals at Stanley Medical College Hospital. During the initial screening, she was suspected to have a congenital heart defect and was advised to undergo further evaluation at MIOT Hospitals.
Following detailed investigations, Dhanusri was diagnosed with Large Subaortic VSD with hyperkinetic Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension, this can lead to serious complications if left untreated. To prevent permanent damage to her heart and lungs, the medical team has recommended early surgical closure of the VSD.
The estimated cost of the surgery is ₹3,00,000/- (Rupees Three Lakhs only).
Dhanusri’s father, Mr. Karthik, works as an auto mechanic technician and earns a monthly income of approximately ₹24,000/-. As the sole earning member of the family, he struggles to meet the household expenses while also supporting the education of their elder child. Given the family’s modest financial condition, arranging such a substantial amount for their infant daughter’s life-saving surgery is beyond their means.
