Master Pukaneshkumar, a 5-year-and-3-month-old boy from Dharmapuri District, is studying in Class I at a Government School. His journey towards a healthier future began during a routine medical examination at his school, where doctors detected signs suggestive of congenital heart disease. He was referred to Dharmapuri Government Hospital to attend a free cardiac screening camp conducted by MIOT Hospitals. Following the initial evaluation, he was advised to undergo further assessment at MIOT Hospitals.

Detailed investigations at MIOT Hospitals revealed a Large Posterior Atrial Septal Defect (ASD) and Partial Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Drainage (PAPVD) of the Right Posterior Lung Vein (RPLV) to the Right Atrium (RA). Considering the severity of his condition and the risk of long-term complications, the cardiac team recommended surgical intervention involving ASD closure and rerouting of the RPLV to the Left Atrium (LA).

The estimated cost of the surgery and necessary medical care was ₹2,85,000/-. However, Pukaneshkumar’s father, Mr. Gopal, works as a daily-wage construction labourer, earning approximately ₹800 per day. With irregular employment and limited income, meeting the substantial medical expenses was beyond the family’s financial capacity.

With the generous support of compassionate donors, the required funds were successfully raised, enabling Pukaneshkumar to receive the cardiac treatment he needed under the expert care of the cardiac team at MIOT Hospitals.

On 15 October 2026 Master Pukaneshkumar successfully underwent cardiac surgery at MIOT Hospitals. Following treatment and post-operative care, he made a good recovery and was discharged in good health on 20 October 2026. He has been advised to continue his prescribed medications and return for a medical review after two months. His successful treatment marks an important milestone in his journey towards a healthier future, bringing immense relief and happiness to his family. From the early detection of his heart condition at a school screening camp to undergoing surgery and returning home in good health, his journey highlights the importance of early diagnosis, timely medical intervention, and collective compassion.
