A Father’s Fight for His Daughter Maghizhini’s Future

16 Apr 2026

Watch Baby Maghizhini’s journey where a father’s fight met life saving expertise

Maghizhini’s story began like every dream a parent holds close to their heart. The arrival of a child changes everything; life begins to revolve around tiny smiles, soft laughter, and endless dreams. For this family, their daughter became the centre of their world, their joy, their hope, and their reason to keep going.
But a year later, that world began to fall apart as her condition took a dangerous turn. Her health worsened drastically, she began vomiting blood frequently and would faint without warning. The doctors advised an immediate life-saving heart surgery.

When Survival Came at a Cost

But survival came with a price Maghizhini’s father couldn’t afford. The estimated cost of the surgery was ₹8,00,000an amount far beyond the means of a father already struggling to make ends meet. To care for his child, he had to leave his job. His wife worked in the afternoons, while he drove an auto from 4 a.m. to 11 a.m., doing everything he could to keep their family going.
The world around him didn’t make it easier. When he needed comfort, he was met with cold advice. Some even told him to give up on her, warning that holding on would only lead to a lifetime of hardship. For him, there was no choice to weigh and no debate to be had. She was his daughter, and that was the only reason he ever needed.

When Support Made the Difference

In that moment of despair, CHIME, in association with the MIOT Centre for Children’s Cardiac Care, stepped in with unwavering support becoming a source of hope when the family had none left. They not only understood the urgency of her condition but also stood firmly beside her father, ensuring he did not have to face this battle alone.
With swift coordination and compassionate care, the surgery was arranged without delay. Under the expertise of the MIOT team, she successfully underwent AtrioventricularSeptal Defect (AVSD) repair along with relief of the right ventricular outflow tract (RVOT).
What once felt like an impossible situation was transformed into a moment of hope, giving Maghizhini a second chance at life.

A Waiting No Parent Should Endure

The wait after surgery was the most unbearable part. Due to the high risk of infection, he was allowed to see his child for only 15 minutes a day just enough time to stand by her side, look at her, and reassure himself that she was still fighting.
Those fleeting moments became his entire world the only thing he could hold onto as he walked out each day, carrying a fear he could not put into words. After five long days, he was finally reunited with his baby girl. Seeing her healthy was the moment he had longed for all this time. That moment was everything.

Today, she is like any other child her age playing, moving, and living freely and in every smile of hers, her father finds the happiness he fought so hard for.
