Baby Yazhnila – A Story of Courage, Compassion and a New Beginning

03 Mar 2026

Watch Ms. Ramya, mother of Baby Yazhnila, share her heartfelt treatment journey

A Life Rewritten by Hope, Story of Baby Yazhnila

For Ms. Ramya and Mr. Santosh, the birth of their daughter Yazhnila should have been a time of celebration. Instead, it became the beginning of an unimaginable journey.

Shortly after birth, Yazhnila was diagnosed with a complex congenital heart condition Tetralogy of Fallot, a serious defect affecting normal blood flow through the heart. Her oxygen saturation levels, which should ideally be above 95%, began dropping dangerously first to 85%, then to 75%.

Each fall in saturation was a silent warning. Doctors confirmed that she would require open-heart surgery, a complete corrective repair to survive and live a normal life.

For her parents, already facing financial hardship, the diagnosis was devastating. Private hospitals quoted treatment estimates far beyond their reach. The pandemic lockdown further worsened their situation, leaving them with no financial fall back and no clear path forward.

Ms. Ramya recalls those darkest hours:
“I sat outside the hospital and collapsed. I held her little dress close to me and prayed that at least her body would come back to me.”
It was not just fear of surgery. It was fear of losing their child.

A Turning Point: Hope Through CHIME

At their most vulnerable moment, hope arrived through CHIME – Children’s Heart International, in association with the MIOT Centre for Children’s Cardiac Care.

Through this initiative, Baby Yazhnila was admitted for life-saving surgery. The procedure involved a complete corrective repair of her congenital heart defect. In 2020, the surgery was successfully performed.

When Ms. Ramya saw her daughter after surgery, the monitor showed something she had not seen before oxygen saturation at 100%.

“Before surgery, I could not even take proper care of her. After surgery, when she became energetic, it felt like my life became energetic too.”

The child who once struggled to breathe was now recovering steadily stronger, brighter, and full of life.

From Survival to Celebration

On 12 February 2026, during the 27th Founder’s Day celebrations of MIOT International, one of the most moving moments of the evening unfolded. Baby Yazhnila, once a critically ill infant, took the stage and performed a dance. The audience rose in applause.

Her performance was more than a celebration. It was a living testament to resilience, medical excellence, and the transformative power of compassion.

Today, Yazhnila is thriving a symbol of what becomes possible when timely medical intervention meets generous hearts.

Gratitude That Speaks from the Heart

Ramya remains deeply grateful to CHIME, the doctors, nurses, and every donor who made her daughter’s second chance possible.

“I would like to thank CHIME, the doctors and the nurses for helping my child live.”

Her words are simple. Her gratitude is immeasurable.
