Anbarasan’s Journey from Fragile Childhood to Renewed Health

16 Apr 2026

Watch Anbarasan’s journey where a childhood of struggle turned into a life of possibility

For most children, life is measured in games played and carefree laughter. But for Anbarasan, childhood was defined by exhaustion, missed moments, and the quiet struggle of trying to keep up.
At just six years old, he was diagnosed with a heart condition that set him apart from other children his age. While his friends ran freely, Anbarasan often found himself on the sidelineswatching, waiting, and wondering why something so simple felt so difficult. Frequent illness at school and constant fatigue became a part of his everyday life, slowly taking away the joys of a normal childhood.

When Hope Met Financial Struggle

As his condition became more evident, a paediatrician advised his family to seek specialised cardiac care. But for a family living in poverty, accessing advanced treatment in cities like Chennai or Bangalore felt far beyond reach. In 2007, they managed to bring Anbarasan to MIOT for further evaluation. However, the estimated cost of ₹4,00,000 for the surgery became an overwhelming barrier. For his family, it wasn’t just expensive it felt impossible. In that moment, hope seemed out of reach, with no clear path forward.

When CHIME Stepped In

It was at this critical juncture that CHIME – Children’s Heart InternationaleMIOT, the charitable initiative of MIOT, stepped in to support the family. Dedicated to helping children with critical heart conditions who have limited financial means, CHIME became the bridge between despair and hope.
With their timely intervention, what once felt impossible was set into motion. In association with the MIOT Centre for Children’s Cardiac Care the surgery was arranged giving Anbarasan not just access to treatment, but a renewed chance at life and a brighter future.

A Life Transformed

The impact of that intervention went far beyond the operating room. It didn’t just repair his heart; it changed the course of his life.
Today, at 27, Anbarasan has completed his B.Ed. and built a career for himself. The limitations that once defined his childhood are now behind him. He leads a healthy, active, and fulfilling life, one that once felt uncertain, but is now a reality.
