Sivarangan’s Journey from a Fragile Childhood to a Life Rebuilt
17 Apr 2026At just 13 years old, Sivarangan was diagnosed with a serious heart condition a moment that brought uncertainty and fear into his young life. While he may not have fully understood the complexity of his illness, the concern in his parents’ eyes said everything.
His family travelled across Chennai, moving from one hospital to another in search of answers. Yet, at every step, they were met with the same disheartening response that his condition was too critical, that surgery was not feasible, and that hope was limited. For the family, it was a devastating period marked by helplessness and emotional exhaustion.
When Someone Chose to Step In
When Sivarangan arrived at MIOT, there was a shift. The medical team conducted a thorough evaluation and clearly explained his condition, offering a sense of direction that had been missing until then.However, financial constraints remained a major barrier. With his parents working as ironers, even managing daily expenses was difficult, making the cost of advanced cardiac treatment unaffordable.
Recognising this, the medical team guided the family to CHIME – Children’s Heart Internationale MIOT, the charitable initiative of MIOT dedicated to supporting children with critical heart conditions who lack the financial means for treatment.
CHIME stepped in at this crucial moment, extending not just financial support, but also reassurance and hope to a family that had almost run out of both.
A Life Transformed
With timely intervention and association with the MIOT Centre for Children’s Cardiac Care, the S/P (Status Post) Mitral Valve Repair & Aortic Valve Replacement was successfully carried out, giving Sivarangan a second chance at life.
The impact of that moment continues to shape his journey today.
Sivarangan has since completed his education and built a successful career in the IT field. He is now married and blessed with two children. What was once an uncertain future has transformed into a life filled with stability, happiness, and purpose.
