Urgent Help Needed for Baby Hapsa Fathima’s Heart Surgery
We humbly appeal to support Baby Hapsa Fathima, a three-month-old female infant, daughter of Mr. Rameez Khan, from Tiruvallur District.
Baby Hapsa Fathima was born into a financially vulnerable family. Her father, Mr. Rameez Khan, is a daily-wage worker, earning approximately ₹800 per day, with no fixed or assured employment. Her mother, Mrs. Farhana, is a homemaker, caring for the household and their children. The family has two other children—an elder daughter and an elder son—and Baby Hapsa Fathima is their youngest child.
At 11 days after birth, during a routine general screening, doctors detected a serious heart condition. The baby was immediately referred to Tiruvallur Government Hospital (GH). During a medical camp conducted by MIOT International Hospitals at Tiruvallur GH, the child was thoroughly evaluated and diagnosed to have Down syndrome, canal type inlet VSD with sub aortic exertion, small PDA, small ASD, large shunt, severe PAH.
Due to the severity of the condition, doctors have advised early surgical intervention to save the baby’s life. She is advised to undergo early surgery – VSD closure + ASD closure + PDA ligation.
The estimated cost of the procedure is ₹3,75,000/- which includes ICU care, surgery, hospital stay, post-operative investigations, and medications.
Unfortunately, given the family’s extremely limited financial means and the father’s unstable daily-wage income, it is impossible for them to arrange this amount on their own. Delaying the surgery could put Baby Hapsa Fathima’s life at serious risk.
