Puviarasi, a 13-year-old girl from Chemancheri (a relocated slum community near Chennai), was born in a government baby hospital in Arcot.
Her mother Satya is a homemaker, and her father Murugan works as a daily-wage laborer at construction sites, earning about ₹700 per day. Murugan also struggles with alcoholism, leaving the family with very little stability or savings.
Puviarasi’s heart problem was unknown to her family for many years. It was only during a routine school health checkup that doctors first suspected a heart defect. She was referred to KMC, Chennai, where further evaluation was done.
Recently, during a medical camp conducted by MIOT International Hospital at KMC Chennai, doctors confirmed that Puviarasi has a small sub-pulmonic VSD with RCC prolapse and mild AR. She has been advised to undergo early surgical VSD closure to correct this condition and prevent it from worsening as she grows.
The estimated Cost of Surgery is ₹2,60,000/- This covers the surgical procedure, ICU care, hospital stay, post-operative investigations, and essential medications.
For Puviarasi’s parents — surviving on a daily wage income with no savings — this amount is far beyond their reach. Yet this surgery is critical to protect her heart, ensure healthy growth, and give her a chance at a normal, active teenage life.
