Asviya, a 16-year-old girl from Medavakkam, Chennai, dreams of continuing her education and building a healthy, independent future. Today, that future depends on a heart procedure her family cannot afford.
Asviya is studying in Class 11 at a Government school. She was seemingly healthy and had no noticeable symptoms when she attended a health camp conducted at her school. During the screening, doctors suspected a cardiac condition and referred her for further evaluation.
She subsequently attended a free cardiac screening camp conducted by MIOT Hospitals at Kilpauk Medical College Hospital. Following the initial investigations, she was advised to undergo further evaluation at MIOT Hospitals.
The doctors have now diagnosed Asviya with a Large Ostium Secundum Atrial Septal Defect (ASD) – a hole between the upper chambers of the heart. She has been advised to undergo an ASD device closure procedure, with an estimated cost of ₹2,00,000.
For Asviya’s family, this amount is beyond their means.
Her father, Mr. Siraj, works as a daily wage labourer and earns around ₹500 per day, with no stable or guaranteed income. Her mother, Ms. Nasreen, is a homemaker and lives with hearing impairment. Her grandmother works as a maid servant and helps support the family financially.
Despite their difficult circumstances, the family is determined to give Asviya the medical care she needs so that she can continue her education and look forward to a healthy future.
Your support can help this young girl receive the treatment she urgently needs and give her the opportunity to pursue her education, dreams, and a healthy life ahead.
