Yaswanthi, a 2-year-old girl from Thiruvallur district, was constantly battling cold and fever, symptoms that caused great concern to her parents. After numerous visits to local doctors, a pediatrician finally noticed Yaswanthi has a rapid heartbeat.
This led to a referral to specialists at MIOT Hospitals who, after further investigation, diagnosed her with a transitional AV canal with a moderate left-to-right shunt.
The diagnosis was serious and required immediate attention. The medical team planned for an early elective surgery to correct the AV canal defect. The cost of the procedure was Rs. 2,80,000/-, covering surgery, ICU stay, post-operative care, and medications.
However, Yaswanthi’s father, Mr. Jayaprakash, works as a scaffolder in building construction. As the sole breadwinner of the family, he struggled to make ends meet, and the financial burden of the surgery seemed insurmountable. Mr. Jayaprakash was overwhelmed with helplessness, unable to afford the necessary treatment for his daughter.
Realizing their poor situation, CHIME had approached the Saradambal Neelamegam Charitable Trust and other philanthropists to support the surgery.
The entire cost of Yaswanthi’s treatment was arranged, ensuring she could receive the surgery she desperately needed.
On 29.10.2024, Yaswanthi successfully underwent surgery, and today, Yaswanthi is a vibrant, healthy, and happy little girl, enjoying a life free of the health challenges that once threatened her future.
