Yuvatharani, a 2-year-and-8-month-old girl from Pudukkottai district. Her parents, Mr. Velmurugan and Mrs. Soundarya, felt their daughter had delayed milestones and was often irritable, and when she cried, she would go into a spasm.
So the parents were very careful to see she never cried. It was when Yuvatharani turned 1 year old and could not walk or did not talk like their other children did at that age that the parents felt the need to see a doctor. They were told that the child had a hole in the heart and also a valve problem.
She was referred to a government hospital and from there referred to MIOT Hospital for treatment. In the year 2023, she has undergone ICR with RV to PA conduit and PA plasty for correction of the same.
Following it, in the year 2024, she was planned for LPA plasty + reconstruction of the distal conduit procedure, which cost Rs. 3,25,000.
Yuvatharani’s father, Mr. Velmurugan, a daily wage laborer working in a catering service, earned just Rs. 400 per day, which barely covered the day-to-day expenses of the family. With his meager income, Mr. Velmurugan was helpless in arranging the required amount for his daughter’s life-saving surgery.
With the support of well-wishers and charity organizations, we were able to raise the necessary funds for her surgery.
On 18.02.2025, she underwent surgery and was discharged from the hospital and continued her post-operative care with regular check-ups and medications.
