Roshani – A Pediatric Heart Success Story
Little Roshani, a one-year-old child from Tiruvallur district, has overcome a difficult health journey with timely medical intervention and the support of compassionate donors.
Since the age of three months, Roshani had been suffering from severe cold, cough, congestion, and an unusual sound in her heart. Concerned about her health, her parents took her to several hospitals, where doctors suspected an underlying heart condition.
A turning point came when, with the support of the Village Health Nurse, Roshani attended a free cardiac screening camp conducted by MIOT Hospitals at the Government Hospital, Tiruvallur. Following the initial screening, she was referred to MIOT Hospitals for detailed investigations.
Further medical evaluation revealed that Roshani had a moderate-sized Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA), a heart condition that required timely treatment. Doctors advised an early PDA device closure procedure to prevent further complications and help her lead a healthier life.
The estimated cost of her treatment was ₹1,40,000, covering the procedure, ICU care, hospital stay, medicines, investigations, and other medical expenses.
Roshani’s father, Mr. Nagaraj, works at a vehicle washing shed and earns approximately ₹3,000 per week. As the sole earning member of the family, his income was barely enough to meet their daily household needs. Arranging the cost of Roshani’s treatment was therefore beyond the family’s means.
With the compassionate support of philanthropists, CHIME was able to mobilise the required funds for Roshani’s treatment.
On 08 August 2026, Roshani successfully underwent the PDA device closure procedure at MIOT Hospitals. After receiving post-operative care and monitoring, she was discharged from the hospital on 10 August 2026.
Today, little Roshani is back home with her family and a renewed hope for a healthier future. She has been advised to continue her prescribed medications and return for a medical review after one month.
