Kalish – A Brave Soul’s Heart Success Story
Kalish, a 5-year-old boy from Dharmapuri district, was born with a severe congenital heart disease. Since birth, his parents had visited several government hospitals and consulted many doctors in search of treatment for their son’s condition. Despite their persistent efforts, they were unable to find a permanent solution for his heart problem.
In 2021, during a free cardiac screening camp conducted by the medical team from MIOT Hospitals at Dharmapuri Government Hospital, Kalish’s condition was identified. He was referred to MIOT Hospitals for further evaluation, where doctors diagnosed him with Tetralogy of Fallot along with a large sub-aortic malaligned VSD.
Understanding the seriousness of his condition, the medical team successfully performed corrective surgery for Tetralogy of Fallot at MIOT Hospitals. However, in 2024, he was advised to undergo cardiac catheterization with a bilateral pulmonary artery (PA) stenting procedure to ensure better long-term recovery.
The estimated cost of this life-saving procedure was ₹3,00,000 — far beyond the family’s financial means. Kalish’s father, Mr. Elayaraja, is the sole breadwinner of the family and works as a painter with a modest income, making it extremely difficult to manage the mounting medical expenses.
Recognizing the family’s difficult situation and Kalish’s urgent medical needs, CHIME stepped forward and mobilized support from generous philanthropists to help fund the treatment.
With timely intervention and compassionate support, Kalish was admitted for the procedure on 25.03.2026 and successfully underwent treatment on 31.03.2026. After careful post-operative monitoring and recovery, he was discharged from the hospital on 08.04.2026.
Today, Kalish is recovering well, responding positively to medications, and gradually regaining his strength. He is scheduled for his next medical review in two months.
Kalish’s journey is a beautiful example of how timely medical care, compassion, and collective support can transform a child’s life and restore hope to an entire family.
