Perarasu, an 11-year-old boy hailing from Cuddalore district, studies class VI in a government school.
Two years ago, Peruarasu began experiencing leg swelling and bluish discoloration in his limbs. After medical evaluation, he was diagnosed with Rheumatic heart disease, severe mitral regurgitation ( a condition that required urgent treatment).
Recently, Perarasu was taken to a free cardiac screening camp organized by MIOT Hospitals, where his treating doctor evaluated him and later he was taken to MIOT hospitals for further treatment. The Medical team planned for Early Surgery – Mitral valve repair and the estimated cost of the surgery was ₹3,00,000 an amount far beyond the reach of Perarasu’s family. His father, Kumaravel, works as a daily-wage laborer – centering work in constructions and earning ₹900 which is an unstable job.
His mother, Savithri, is a housewife and does all she can to care for her son. Realising their poor situation, we supported his medical expenses.
On 29/05/2025 Perarasu underwent a procedure successfully and was discharged from the hospital. Now he is recovering and continuing his regular medication and will have his medical review after 2 months.
